School Temporarily Closed for the Health and Safety of our Community

These are unprecedented times, and we appreciate your patience and understanding during this public health crisis as we take thoughtful action to do our part to keep our students, staff, and community safe.   Since the COVID-19 coronavirus first emerged in California, we have followed the guidance of our public health agency partners in taking preventative measures in our schools.  As this situation continues to evolve, public health experts now believe the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in San Diego County and California will grow, and we reached a point where the appropriate path was to close schools.
After careful deliberation, and following the announcement from local public school districts throughout Southern California, The Growing Place Montessori closed effective Monday, March 16th until further notice.   We will continue to carefully monitor this very dynamic public health situation and will update our families as needed. In the meantime, we will be providing virtual school tours that may be scheduled here.
Child care centers and schools are essential to communities.  We know that an extended closure will cause challenges for many families in our community who rely on us to care for their children while they are working.  Given the seriousness of the current situation, we firmly believe that this decision is the best one we can make given all available information and keeping the best interests of our students, staff, community, and health care systems at the forefront.
We thank you for your patience and trust as our community works together to maintain some sense of normalcy in these difficult times.  During this closure, families should follow the guidance of public health agencies, including staying home and minimizing social contact as much as possible.  These next few weeks will be difficult and we are not certain what lies ahead after that.  We will continue to do our best to keep you informed.  Facts and circumstances are likely to continue to change rapidly, so we encourage you to monitor public health agency announcements for the most updated information:
We encourage you to communicate with your child in age-appropriate ways about COVID-19, and recommend this helpful resource from the National Association of School Psychologists.
Thank you for your support and cooperation.
With gratitude,
The TGPM Leadership Team
